The extent to which Brits are now shopping on their smartphone has been revealed by research conducted by Tecmark.

Our research, conducted in association with OnePoll, looked at all aspects of smartphone usage in the final months of 2014.

And is clear that shopping on smartphones is becoming an increasingly central part of the consumer’s experience.

More than 30% of respondents who bought during three months had made a single purchase worth more than 100.

Northern Ireland, the northeast and London were the leading areas for shopping on smartphones, while 35% of buyers admitted to shopping on their phone while at work.

And it’s not just the younger generation that are using their smartphones: silver surfers are also cashing in, with more than a quarter of over 55s having made purchases on their smartphones. Almost 30% of over 55s had used their smartphones in-store to do a live price comparison.

Tecmark conducted several surveys in 2014 around consumer behaviour on smartphones and we’ve combined the results into an infographic and animation.
