Copywriter Rebecca Beale joined Tecmark in January 2016. In her Tecmark 10, she shares with us what she does day in day out, and tells us about her gecko and love for tattoos. Follow Rebecca on Twitter.

1. What does your typical day look like?

I usually get in and check all my tasks to see which are due in soon, and if anything needs editing or proofing. Then I make my to do list for the day and start writing! I write a variety of copy including blog posts, website content, case studies and loads more.

Throughout the day extra tasks might pop up, so it’s important for me to keep checking everything as I go along.

2. What’s the most satisfying aspect of your work?

I love writing, so I enjoy pretty much everything about my job. If I had to choose one thing that stands head and shoulders above the rest, however, it would be the feeling I get when I see a piece of content that I’ve worked really hard on go live on the client website.

3. And the best thing about working at Tecmark?

The best thing about working at Tecmark would have to be the variety of clients I get to write for… and the fact that I can be really creative with my writing… and the free breakfast… and the amazing people I work with… there are too many things to chose just one!

4. What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned over the last 12 months?

I’ve learnt loads since I started working here, but I would say one of the biggest things I’ve learnt is that sometimes less is more when it comes to writing content.

My SEO knowledge is improving loads too!

5. And what do you expect to be learning over the next 12 months?

I hope to learn more about the SEO side of things, as well as more ways to improve my content writing. There’s always lots to learn in this industry.

6. What is the most interesting thing you’ve ever written?

That’s a good question! In my previous role I wrote about a lot of weddings, one of which was zombie themed – that was pretty interesting, to say the least.

7. How does Manchester compare to your home town of Preston?

Preston will always be my home town, but Manchester is much more exciting! I love everything about it – the shops, the nightlife (especially Spinningfields and the Northern Quarter) and the buzz of the city.

I live in Salford Quays which is beautiful, especially at night.

8. How do you relax away from work?

I love going to the theatre, it’s been a passion of mine since uni. Recently I went to watch a rendition of Samuel Beckett’s ‘End Game’ at Home Theatre which was brill.

I also like going out for beers (who doesn’t?), shopping and reading. I’m off to my third Glastonbury at the end of the month too.

9. We hear you love animals, do you have any pets?

I do! I have a leopard gecko called Gilbert. He’s amazing but can be a bit grumpy and snappy sometimes, so don’t think I’ll be bringing him into work anytime soon!

10. And finally … we can see that you’ve got lots of tattoos, which one is your favourite and what is the story behind it?

I love all my tattoos so it’s hard to pick just one. The one with the most interesting story behind it is the little jellyfish on my left arm. I got it a couple of years ago and my friend got the same one. It looks more like an octopus though!
