Tecmark announce Steve Prescott Foundation partnership for 2016 triathlon

Tecmark have teamed up with the Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) to help develop a brand new website for the cancer charity’s upcoming triathlon (www.sthelenstiathlon.com).

The Manchester-based digital agency will work closely with the charity, drawing on their content marketing expertise to help build the site, create content and develop an ordering system that will allow people to sign up for the event.

Former international rugby league star Steve Prescott set up the foundation after being diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei – a rare form of cancer. In September 2006, he was told he had just months to live.

Before his passing, Steve revealed it had been a dream of his to host a triathlon, in his hometown of St Helens, to raise money for other cancer patients.

Tecmark have been involved with SPF since 2014. The agency has raised a considerable sum of money through various charity events. In 2015, Tecmark’s director Richard Heyes helped raise over £10k by climbing Kilimanjaro.

Speaking about the upcoming triathlon, Richard said: “It’s exciting to help with such a great event. When climbing Kilimanjaro last year, the SPF team mentioned to me that Steve’s dream was to organise a triathlon.

“After hearing their plans, I knew I wanted to help as much as possible, from developing the site, to helping raise funds.”

Tecmark is responsible for the site’s main development, with help from Shopblocks who will implement the ordering system. Tecmark’s founders set up the platform to help users design, build and launch their own online shop.

Commenting on both companies involvement, SPF’s general manager, Martin Blondel, said: “Organising this triathlon is very challenging, so having Tecmark and Shopblocks on board is a massive help.

“Their experience and knowledge in developing sites and creating content is fantastic. We are very grateful for them.”

2016 is a special year for the SPF. The charity, who work closely with the Christie Hospital, have reached a million pounds worth of donations for its nominated charities, the Rugby League Benevolent and the SPF Special Causes Fund.

The SPF Talbern St Helens Triathlon will take place on 25th September 2016 at Eccleston Mere, with an Olympic and Sprint triathlon distance. For more details or to sign up for the event, click here.
