Criminal Defence in a corporate fraud case involving Formula 1 motorsport: R-v-M
24/06/2009
David Phillips and Partners corporate fraud solicitors successfully defended M who was accused of falsifying documents to mislead banks. Following a court trial of M the charges were dismissed.
M was employed by an accountancy firm contracted by engineering components companies which made parts for Formula 1 cars. The prosecution alleged that these companies were conducting business fraud against clearing banks, and that our client was materially involved.
The prosecutors said that M knowingly altered a document which hid capital expenditure. This gave a falsely optimistic view of one of the component companies’ financial position.
M instructed David Phillips and Partners corporate fraud solicitors to represent him and defend the charges. This was an extremely complicated case, involving many businesses and individuals, but was managed due to the experience and abilities of our corporate fraud lawyers.
As a result of David Phillips and Partners corporate fraud solicitors, M was acquitted of all charges at trial.
